Sergii Marchenko: Multi-Agency Donor Сoordination Platform should become an effective tool for mobilising the necessary funding for 2024

Today, on 12 February, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with the Special Envoy for the Reconstruction in Ukraine Davide La Cecilia and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Ukraine Pier Francesco Zazo.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova and Government Commissioner for Public Debt Management Yuriy Butsa.

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine thanked the Government of Italy for supporting the needs of Ukraine, in particular for the direct budget support: "Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Italy has been one of the first countries to support Ukraine by providing over EUR 300 million in direct budget support, including grants. We are highly appreciative of the comprehensive assistance and expect to strengthen our cooperation this year during Italy's G7 presidency."

Sergii Marchenko noted the efforts of the Italian Government in approving the recent decision on the EUR 50 billion Ukraine Facility for 2024-2027.

The funds under the Instrument are aimed at maintaining macro-financial stability, restoring and modernising the country. In addition, the implementation of the reform areas set out in the Ukraine Facility will bring Ukraine closer to EU integration through the harmonisation with its rules and standards.

The parties discussed the preparations for the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform, co-chaired by Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko. The event will be held online on 14 February with the participation of representatives of the G7 countries, the European Commission and international financial institutions. The participants of the meeting emphasised that a clear prioritisation of Ukraine's needs is necessary within the framework of the Platform.

Davide La Cecilia noted that support for Ukraine is one of Italy's key priorities for 2024, during its presidency in G7.
