State and State-Guaranteed Debt Decreased by UAH 40 billion in September 2021

Ukraine's total state and state-guaranteed debt in the national currency equivalent amounted to UAH 2,445.52 billion (USD 92.02 billion in FX equivalent) as of the end of September 2021. Compared with the previous month, Ukraine's state and state-guaranteed debt decreased by UAH 39.8 billion in UAH equivalent and by USD 510 million in USD equivalent. At the same time, the state debt decreased by UAH 31.1 billion (USD 296 million), and the state-guaranteed debt decreased by UAH 8.7 billion (USD 213 million).

As of the end of September, the state debt amounted to UAH 2,168.82 billion (USD 81.61 billion), of which 45.5% is state domestic debt and 54.5% is state external debt, which consists of loans from international financial organizations (22.4% of total state debt), Eurobonds (28.2%) and other external debt (3.9%).

The share of state debt in UAH as of the end of September 2021 increased to 40.2%.

In September 2021, the Ministry of Finance held 23 auctions on the placement of government bonds, attracting UAH 20.7 billion for financing the state budget. In addition, the state budget in September 2021 received part of the IMF SDR allocation in the amount of 1 billion SDR or about UAH 37.9 billion.

In September 2021, the Ministry of Finance redeemed the third series of external government bonds issued during the restructuring in 2015, as well as the last issue of external government bonds guaranteed by the United States. Payments on these instruments totaled more than USD 2.3 billion.

In January-September 2021 state debt principal payments amounted to UAH 357.4 billion, while service payments amounted to UAH 110.1 billion.
