On 13 October, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) Carlo Monticelli, during the working visit to Morocco in the framework of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Olga Zykova.
They discussed the current economic situation in the country, as well as the implementation of joint projects with the Bank in the social sphere.
"The Ministry of Finance continues to ensure the balance of the budget and the financing of priority expenditures, in particular for the social sphere and humanitarian aid. Supporting Ukrainians and creating safe and comfortable living conditions for our citizens in the time of war is an important task for the Government of Ukraine. Ukraine has recently joined the CEB. Taking into account the Bank's vast experience in implementing socially important projects, we look forward to active cooperation, which will include the development of new financial and loan programmes and the implementation of investment projects in the social sector," said Sergii Marchenko.
The Minister of Finance thanked the representatives of the CEB for their support and solidarity with Ukraine and stressed that joining the Bank is another step towards Ukraine's further full integration into the EU.
The Bank's cooperation with Ukraine is one of the objectives of the CEB Strategic Plan for 2023-2027. The key areas of cooperation will focus on meeting Ukraine's priority healthcare needs and implementing the state housing policy, including providing housing for Ukrainian citizens.

Ukraine's membership in the CEB came less than a year after the country officially applied for membership in June 2022. In June 2023, Ukraine completed the accession process and became the 43rd member state of the Council of Europe Development Bank.
