Minister of Finance of Ukraine met with the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom

On November 18, during the working visit to London, the United Kingdom, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with the newly appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom Jeremy Hunt.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova.

The parties discussed the current financial situation in Ukraine, the need for additional financing, as well as priority areas of cooperation to strengthen the partnership between the Governments of both countries.

Sergii Marchenko thanked the Government of the United Kingdom for the long-term fruitful partnership and active position in condemning the invasion of Ukraine by russia. 

"Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the United Kingdom is one of the leaders in providing financial and military assistance to our country, as well as in the issues of sanctions pressure on russia", - said Sergii Marchenko.

UK is one of the largest donor countries of financial assistance to Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression of russia, Ukraine has received budget support from the United Kingdom of about USD 1 billion.

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine stressed the need for additional financing of the state budget next year. The deficit is projected at USD 3 billion per month. Ukraine counts on macro-financial assistance from partner countries, in particular the UK, and international financial organizations. 

The parties also discussed other steps taken by the Government of Ukraine to increase revenues to reduce the State Budget deficit. In particular, the issuance of war bonds, reduction of non-priority expenditures and their further allocation to critical needs, maximization of State Budget revenues.

Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom Jeremy Hunt assured of unwavering support for Ukraine.
