According to preliminary data for the 8 months of 2021, UAH 30 billion was spent on the fight against COVID-19.
In particular, funds were spent for the following purposes:
- payment to healthcare institutions for services provided for inpatient medical care and vaccination of the population under the program of medical guarantees - UAH 11.8 billion;
- to purchase COVID-19 vaccines - UAH 9.8 billion. In general, for treatment of COVID-19 patients and vaccination services under the program of medical guarantees in 2021 were allocated UAH 17.5 billion, and for the purchase of 38 million doses of vaccines - UAH 10.5 billion of state budget funds;
- to purchase the goods and services to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (except for vaccines) - UAH 2.5 billion, including UAH 1.7 billion from local budgets;
- payment to institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for services on hospitalization of patients with COVID-19 - UAH 14 million out of the envisaged 55 million UAH;
- subventions to provide hospitals with oxygen - UAH 0.5 billion from the allocated UAH 0.75 billion;
- measures for social support of the population in quarantine conditions - UAH 2.9 billion; payment of financial security in connection with a temporary disability - UAH 0.8 billion. A total of UAH 3.8 billion (UAH 2.0 billion of the special fund, UAH 1.8 billion of the general fund) was allocated to the Ministry of Social Policy for payment of one-time financial assistance and material aid in connection with a temporary disability;
- payment of unemployment benefits - UAH 1.1 billion, or 100% of the funds allocated by the Ministry of Economy for such payments;
- implementation of measures to fight COVID-19 in educational institutions - UAH 18.3 million out of the provided 1 billion UAH;
- additional payments to the salaries of the National Guard and State Border Guard, civil protection bodies and units, police officers, medical and other employees of departmental health care institutions - UAH 0.8 billion (98% of allocated funds).
In general, more than UAH 36 billion was budgeted for the fight against COVID-19 in 2021.
"The Ministry of Finance provides systematic and comprehensive funding for measures to strengthen the ability of health care, in particular in the fight against COVID-19. The draft budget for 2022 provides for an increase of more than UAH 30 billion for the provision of medical services under the program of medical guarantees in comparison with 2021. However, we also hope to raise citizens' awareness of the importance of their efforts to minimize the risks associated with the consequences of this disease. Now Ukraine has enough vaccines to vaccinate those citizens who have not yet been vaccinated", - commented Deputy Minister of Finance Roman Yermolychev.
