Minister of Finance of Ukraine and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine discussed strategic partnership prospects

Today, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko held his first meeting with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Julie S. Davis.

Deputy Ministers of Finance Yuriy Draganchuk, Olga Zykova, and Oleksandr Kava also took part in the meeting.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state of Ukraine’s economy and financial system, and outlined prospects for further strategic partnership.

Sergii Marchenko congratulated Julie S. Davis on the start of her mission in Ukraine and expressed his gratitude to the United States for its comprehensive support in response to russia’s full-scale aggression. He also emphasized the crucial role of U.S. contributions to Ukraine’s financial stability.

“Since February 2022, thanks to the direct budget support provided by the United States, the Government of Ukraine has been able to maintain the uninterrupted functioning of state institutions and to finance key social and humanitarian expenditures. We greatly value this assistance and look forward to continued mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Minister stated.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between Ukraine and the United States to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, deepen economic partnership, and advance the country’s recovery.

They also acknowledged the important role of American businesses that continue operating in Ukraine and contributing to the country’s economy.

In addition, Sergii Marchenko and Julie S. Davis discussed preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in Rome in July, as well as the Ukraine Donor Platform.
