Minister of Finance of Ukraine met with the Minister of Finance of the Swiss Confederation

Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko held an online meeting with the Federal Councillor of Finance in the Federal Department of Finance of Switzerland Ueli Maurer.

Sergii Marchenko expressed gratitude to the Swiss Government for supporting Ukraine, in particular for implementing sanctions against Russian legal entities and individuals, despite Switzerland's historically established neutral status. As of today, the Swiss list of sanctioned individuals fully complies with the EU sanctions policy.

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine drew attention to the presence of significant Russian financial assets in banks in Switzerland and requested that sanctions measures be applied to them.

"It is critical that russia has no ways to avoid sanctions, especially in the banking sector. Sanctions against russia should be strengthened", Sergii Marchenko stressed.

The sides discussed potential financial assistance to Ukraine.

The Minister of Finance of Ukraine noted that the Ukrainian authorities are already beginning to think about rebuilding the country after the victory in the war. Therefore, the meeting participants discussed the possibility of the Swiss Confederation joining the Trust Fund for the provision of financial assistance to our state, established under the World Bank.

Also, Sergii Marchenko noted the importance of suspending and changing the access to resources of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for russia and belarus. The Swiss side said they would officially support such a decision.

The parties agreed to continue the strategic cooperation between the Ministries and Governments of the two countries.
