Today, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn signed an Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on Ukraine's participation in the EU Anti-Fraud Programme.

The aim of the Program is to protect the financial interests of the European Union by supporting efforts to combat fraud and corruption affecting the EU budget, support cooperation between the administrative authorities of EU member states, and ensure correct application of the law on customs and agricultural matters.

Thus, the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU will contribute to:

  • preventing and combating fraud, corruption and any other illegal activities that affect the financial interests of Ukraine and the EU;

  • improving the reporting processes on possible violations of EU funds;

  • implementing tools for the rapid exchange of administrative information between Ukraine and the EU in customs and agricultural matters.

"With each passing day, Ukraine is getting closer to EU membership. Joining the Anti-Fraud Programme is another important step towards strengthening cooperation with the European Union and building reliable and transparent relations. The Government of Ukraine is strongly committed to the aim of the Programme and is ready to strengthen cooperation to prevent any violations that affect the financial interests of both the EU and Ukraine," said Sergii Marchenko.
