Verkhovna Rada adopted customs protection of intellectual property rights (IPR)

On October 17th Verkhovna Rada supported changes to the Customs Code as for the protection of intellectual property rights. This is to merge Ukrainian customs legislation with the standards and practices of the European Union on implementation of the Assosoation Agreement. The text of the law had been previously approved by the European side.

These changes are to enhance prevention measures of the cross-border movement of the supplies that break intellectual property rights and thus contributes to the decline of the counterfeiting.

Adoption of the changes will accelerate cross-border movement and declaration of the original supplies as they will not be stopped at the customs waiting for approval.
