Environmentally Friendly Public Transport will Connect 4 Cities of Kramatorsk Agglomeration, where Half a Million Citizens Live

The Ministry of Finance jointly with the Donetsk Regional State Administration is negotiating with international financial organizations to finance a project to organize a trolleybus service between the cities of Kramatorsk agglomeration, which has about 500,000 citizens now.

The trolleybus line will connect Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka. The total length of the route is 48 kilometers. Currently there is no quality transport connection between the cities of the agglomeration, although the distance between these cities is quite small.

The existing city trolleybus networks of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk will also be integrated into the project. It is proposed to extend this new network to the tourist magnet of the Northern Donbass – Sviatohirsk in the future.

Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava discussed the potential raising of credit funds with representatives of the European Investment Bank. The negotiations were successful. EIB representatives expressed their interest in the project.

"Historically, the cities of Northern Donbass are a dense agglomeration, whose inhabitants, more than half a million citizens, have to travel daily from one city to another to work, study, on business. There is no reliable and high-quality intercity passenger service between Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka today. Transportation is organized by private carriers on so-called "minibuses". Today we are working on the organization of trolleybus traffic, which will connect all four cities with eco-friendly, safe, convenient and affordable type of transport. In addition, the creation by the state of high-quality service for citizens living in the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions adjacent to the temporarily uncontrolled territories of Ukraine is one of the important elements of the Donbass reintegration program, ”- Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava stressed.
