Last week the Parliament adopted the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2022". One of the priority areas of spending is the development of infrastructure, railroads, airports, and river transport. For the modernization of which a significant part of the budget funds is allocated.

"Preparing the State Budget for 2022, we tried to distribute funds for all vital spheres for the country as much as possible. Modernization and construction of new modern infrastructure were and still are one of the priority areas of funding. In particular, a record UAH 141.8 billion is provided for the next year for the development of infrastructure. These funds will be directed to the reconstruction, construction, and maintenance of roads of state and local importance, as well as the modernization of railroads, airports, and river transport, "- said Deputy Minister of Finance Olexander Kava.

Construction of a new high-speed road H-31 Reshetilovka - Dnipro is already actively carried out. In Reshetilovka this highway branches off in the direction of Dnipro from the newly built M-03 Kyiv - Poltava - Kharkiv expressway. The end of H-31 highway construction will create the opportunity for the citizens of Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya, and the southern part of the Donetsk region to drive from Dnipro to Kyiv without breaking the speed limit in 4 hours. Currently, such a trip takes about 7 hours.

Next year there are funds for the construction and reconstruction of bridges. In particular, it is known Zaporozhsky bridge and left-bank exits from Darnitsky bridge in Kyiv. Also, the construction of a new bridge in Kremenchuk will be continued, the works on which are already done this year.

In addition, an overhaul of the M-05 highway Kyiv - Odesa in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kirovograd, and Cherkasy regions will start in 2022 using the state budget. According to the plan, this highway section in the Odesa region will be upgraded to category 1A (highway with a speed limit of 130 km/h). Considerable attention will also be paid to the repair of territorial roads. These are roads in the regions, linking large settlements with regional centers.

Also, next year funding of Ukrzaliznytsia from the state budget will be increased up to UAH 5.2 billion. Of those funds, more than UAH 3 billion will go to buy new passenger cars, including 70 cars for daytime high-speed trains. The remaining UAH 2 billion will be used to finance projects of construction and modernization of passenger railway infrastructure. These funds will go to the completion of the electrification of the Zhytomyr - Novograd-Volynsky section with the renewal of the bypass of Novograd-Volynsky-1 station and the completion of the electrification of the Cherkasy - Tarasa Shevchenko station with the restoration of the bypass at Tarasa Shevchenko station.

In addition, other projects are being worked on now, including the development of Kyiv City Express, construction of the second track on the section Kyiv - Mironovka, restoration of the dismantled line Mironovka - Kanev, which will run trains to this tourist town, electrification of the line Vorozhba - Sumy for high-speed trains Kyiv - Sumy, and restoration of line Galich - Podysokoye to reduce the trip to Ivano-Frankivsk and Carpathian resorts by 2-3 hours, electrification of the section Novozolotarovka - Lysychansk, which will make the trip longer. As well as the electrification of the Hrebenka - Cherkasy section with the construction of a bypass at Hrebenka station and electrification of the Zhytomyr - Berdychiv section.

The construction and reconstruction of airports and the development of river transport are not neglected. In 2022, UAH 3.5 billion will be allocated for the construction of new and reconstruction of existing airports. For these funds, it is planned to build two new airports in Dnipro and Transcarpathia. And reconstruction of the existing airports in Vinnytsia and Kherson will begin.

UAH 742 million will be used to repair the shipping locks.

"By building the infrastructure of the state, we not only create conditions for business and the development of the economy as a whole, but we also ensure the speed of medical care as well as the response to various emergencies. We create an opportunity for the population of the country to be mobile and depending on the need to move quickly between the cities of Ukraine. Those funds, which have already been approved in the State Budget for 2022, are a vivid example of state investment in people, in their country, and in our future!", - summed up Olexander Kava.
