Sergii Marchenko: Ukraine received more than USD 3.5 billion from Canada since the beginning of the full-scale war

Today, on July 27, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza-Cronin.

Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Olga Zykova also took part in the meeting.

Sergii Marchenko expressed his gratitude for the productive cooperation with Larisa Galadza-Cronin, who will soon finish her work in Ukraine. The parties discussed budgetary support from international partners, cooperation with the IMF and needs for rapid recovery:

“We are grateful to the Government of Canada for its multilateral support since the beginning of full-scale war. Military and financial support, sanctions against the aggressor - in all these areas, Canada maintains a stable position in support of Ukraine. I am personally grateful to you for fruitful cooperation during the work in Ukraine. I am sure of the further deepening of cooperation between our countries, because Canada has been and remains a reliable partner and friend of Ukraine.”

During the meeting, the Minister of Finance noted that the macro-financial situation in Ukraine is currently stable thanks to an effective financial policy and the rhythmic inflow of international financial support.

Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine has received more than USD 3.5 billion in budget support from Canada. In 2022, more than USD 1.4 billion were received through the IMF's administrated account, including about USD 367 million, which the Government of Canada attracted from the issue of a five-year Ukraine Sovereignty Bond and a concessional loan in the amount of USD 393 million. In the current year, Ukraine received USD 1.75 billion in concessional funds - also through the mechanism of the IMF's administrated account.

During the meeting, the Minister of Finance also emphasized one of the key priorities - the rapid recovery of Ukraine, which contributes to the creation of safe living conditions for Ukrainians, as well as the country's economic growth.
