Authoritative international economist and expert on tax reform, Chris Wales, joined the team of the Ministry of Finance

Dr. Chris Wales will consult Deputy Minister of Finance Olena Makeyeva on issue regarding the implementation of tax and institutional reforms.

Chris Wales is a member of the Advisory Board of Oxford University and the Board of the Institute for Fiscal Studies. He was a Chief Advisor on tax reform to Gordon Brown and Tony Blair. He was also a member of the Council of Economic Consultants at the Treasury of the UK. In spring 2005, Dr. Wales was the forerunner of a British incentive to merge custom and tax services into one organization. Today, Chris Wales is a partner of international audit company PwC, which has previously worked on the strategy of reforming tax policy in Ukraine.

Chris Wales graduated from Cambridge University. He also has doctoral degree in Medieval history and he received the diploma of an auditor with high qualification.

The Ministry continues to attract renowned international experts to develop effective and favorable business tax reform in Ukraine. In February, the Ministry appointed former Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance of Slovakia Ivan Mikloš as an Advisor on tax administration and reorganization of state finance. In April, Dr. Robert F. Conrad joined the Ministry. In a period of 30 years, Dr. Conrad has consulted more than 40 countries on tax policy and legislation concerning natural resources.
