State Debt in March decreased by more than UAH 38 billion

At the end of March 2021, Ukraine's total state and state-guaranteed debt in national currency equivalent amounted to UAH 2,514.28 billion (USD 90.17 billion in foreign currency equivalent). Compared with the previous month, Ukraine's state and state-guaranteed debt decreased in UAH equivalent by UAH 38.68 billion and by USD 1.24 billion in USD equivalent. At the same time, government debt decreased by UAH 28.91 billion (USD 906.4 million), and state-guaranteed debt decreased by UAH 9.77 billion (USD 33.4 million).

As of the end of March, state debt amounted to UAH 2,234.77 billion (USD 80.14 billion), of which 45.8% is state domestic debt, and 54.2% is state external debt, which consists of loans from international financial organizations (21.2% of total state debt), Eurobonds (28.9%) and other external debt (3.9%).

The share of state debt in hryvnia at the end of March 2021 rose to 39.8%.

In March 2021 the Ministry of Finance held 29 auctions on the placement of government bonds, raising UAH 44.4 billion to finance the state budget.

In Q1 2021, state debt principal payments amounted to UAH 106.9 billion, while interest payments - UAH 374.4 billion.

Despite the crisis, the ratio of state debt to GDP remains moderate: at the end of 2020, it amounted to 53.9%.
