State Debt in January 2021

As of the end of January 2021, the total state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine in national currency equivalent amounted to UAH 2,558.22 billion (USD 90.74 billion in foreign currency equivalent). Compared to the previous month, the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine increased by UAH 6.34 billion in hryvnia equivalent and by USD 0.49 million in dollar equivalent.

In January, the Ministry of Finance held four domestic government bond auctions placement, raising UAH 37.5 billion to the state budget. On January 19, the Ministry of Finance successfully placed the domestic government bonds with a maturity in May 2027.

In January 2021, the portfolio of domestic government bonds owned by non-residents increased by UAH 10.1 billion. As of the end of January 2021, their share among holders of domestic government securities was 9.4% (UAH 95.4 billion).

At the end of January 2021, the share of the state debt in national currency was 38.9%, which is 0.7 percentage points more compared to the previous month.

 In January 2021, expenditures on state debt repayments amounted to UAH 23.6 billion, while state debt service payments amounted to UAH 5.7 billion.
