​Yuriy Dzhygir has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance

On July 26, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the request of acting Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova and appointed Yuriy Dzhygir Deputy Minister of Finance.

In his new position Yuriy Dzhygir will be leading reforms related to the funding of healthcare, education, social services and social welfare.

The Ministry of Finance welcomes this decision of the Government and its support in engaging professionals for the team of the Ministry of Finance who have a deep understanding of the Ukrainian system of public finances as well as a significant international experience.

Yuriy Dzhygir is a gradutate of the National University “Kyiv Mohyla Academy” (1999) where he received a double bachelor degree in economy and political sciences.

He continued his study at Syracuse University in the USA (Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs) where he gained a master degree in economy in 2001 with the specialization “Public Finances”.

In 2001 – 2018 Yuriy Dzhygir worked in a number of projects for international development and was responsible for the development and expert back-up of public finance reforms as well as for the funding of social sector programs in Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and in the countries of Eastern Asia and Oceania.

In 2015-2018 he worked as an external advisor to the Minister of Finance of Ukraine supporting the fiscal decentralisation and funding for healthcare.

In 2016-2018 he worked as an external advisor to the acting Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine developing and implementing the funding reform of the healthcare sector.

On July 26, 2018, Yuriy Dzhygir was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine.
