​The Ministry of Finance hosts lectures as part of the educational project “BudgetPRO”

From November 21 till December 7, the Ministry of Finance conducted a number of lectures on budget affairs as part of the educational project “BudgetPro”.

This is the first education project of the Ministry of Finance and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) aimed to improve the knowledge of journalists and public activists about the key issues of the budget process and thus to enhance the public interest for budget affairs. In total, the lectures were attended by more than 150 persons.

The course included six lectures presented by representatives of the Ministry of Finance and covering topics from their respective areas of responsibility. The starting lecture was presented by Deputy Minister of Finance Sergiy Marchenko, his lecture’s topic was “Budget Essentials” (“Головне ProБюджет”). Mr. Marchenko told the attendants about the budget structure, key participants of the budget process, mid-term budget planning and many other issues.

“This is the first educational project initiated by the Ministry of Finance which was implemented in the peak period of the budget process. Budget topics were quite hot, that’s why we received many questions from the attendants. We were trying to explain all procedures of the budget process, and the project “BudgetPro” was a good opportunity to learn more about the state budget from those who prepare it”, Deputy Minister of Finance Sergiy Marchenko said.

In the following lectures, speakers representing the Ministry of Finance told about expenses and revenues, the main budgetary data resources, the public debt and local budgets. These topics were presented by: Deputy Minister of Finance Yuri Buza, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Yevgeniy Kapinus, Advisor to the Minister of Finance Halyna Markovych; heads of the departments of the Ministry of Finance Mykhaylo Bosak, Yevgen Gladun, Roman Yermolychev and Sergiy Didenko; manager of the E-Data project Oleksandr Shchelokov.

The final product of the project “BudgetPro” will be a handbook covering all topics presented in the lectures. The Ministry of Finance plans to continue such educational activities, please follow announcements on the website of the Ministry of Finance and in social networks.
