Ministry of Finance Joins Fight Against Domestic Violence

Today at the initiative of the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska a meeting of the Commission on the coordination of the interaction of executive authorities to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men has been held which was devoted to the prevention and counteraction to domestic violence.

Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko participated in the meeting and noted the need to address the problem of domestic violence and ensure equal rights for women and men.

To support victims of domestic violence, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has provided a subvention of UAH 274.2 million. It will be used to create services for assistance (shelters, daycare centers, and counseling services) and provision of vehicles for mobile teams for emergency intervention.

The Ministry of Finance will continue participating in joint actions to combat domestic violence. According to the draft State Budget Declaration, UAH 235.9 million will be allocated in 2022 and UAH 175.4 million in 2023 for these purposes.
