Oleksandr Kava: Kharkiv Received 5 Modern Trolleybuses Thanks to the Joint Project with the EIB

Under the joint project with the European Investment Bank "Urban Public Transport of Ukraine" to the public utility "Depot No 3". (Kharkiv) from SE "Auto Assembly Plant No 1" PJSC "Automobile Company" Bogdan Motors" were transferred the first 5 new modern single-section trolleybuses "Bogdan T70117"*.

It is important to note, that these low-floor trolleybuses will provide easy access to urban electric transport for older passengers and persons with disabilities.

"The implementation of the joint project with the European Investment Bank “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine ІІ” provides for the renewal of the fleet of buses, trams, trolleybuses, subway cars, as well as for construction and reconstruction of trolleybus and tram lines, replacement of traction substations.

Thanks to this project Kharkiv has already received five new modern trolleybuses, each worth EUR 169 thousand. 11 cities in Ukraine will follow", - Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava said.

The project is implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure jointly with the Ministry of Finance, city councils, and public utilities and provides the implementation of measures for the renewal of the fleet of buses, trams, trolleybuses, subway cars, as well as for construction and reconstruction of trolleybus and tram lines, replacement of traction substations.

It is planned to implement subprojects on the development of urban passenger transport in 11 cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Ternopil, Lutsk, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernihiv.

EIB loan for Project implementation of EUR 200 million is provided for up to 22 years, with a 5-year grace period and at a yield rate of 2% per annum.

The Ministry of Finance jointly with the Ministry of Infrastructure is working on the launch of the project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine ІІ”, under which it is planned to get a loan from the European Investment Bank of EUR 200 million (the total cost of the project - EUR 404.5 million). This will allow Ukrainian cities to improve the transport system and attract funds for solving public transport problems.

* The amount of the EIB loan under the Project for the city of Kharkiv is EUR 9.88 million. According to the Contract, PJSC "AC" Bogdan Motors" should supply 49 trolleybuses, 12 of which are two-section (T90117) and 37 - single-section (T70117), one of which has a reserve of autonomous driving at least 20 kilometers.
