​Yuriy Heletiy has been appointed new deputy Minister of Finance

On July 4, following the request of acting Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Yuriy Heletiy as the deputy Minister of Finance.

From October 2015 till July 2018 Yuriy Heletiy worked as the director of the financial policy department at the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine where he was in charge for the strategic reform of state-owned banks, development of the market for financial services and the stock market.

In his new position, Yuriy Heletiy will continue to work on the development strategy of the state-owned banking sector, management and reform of state-owned banks, the non-banking sector and public investments and innovations.

The Ministry of Finance welcomes this decision of the Government and appreciates its assistance in the build-up of a teams of professionals sharing the same mindset who are experienced managers able to contribute to the fast and effective implementation of reforms needed for the country.

Yuriy Heletiy studied at Lviv Ivan Franko University where he gained his degree in international economic relations and translation in 2001 and a degree in law in 2002.
In 2012, he gained a degree as a candidate of economic sciences at the Institute for Regional Studies at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2003, Yuriy Heletiy passed the training course “Trade Policy and Commerce Diplomacy” at Carlton University and Ottawa University (Canada).

In 2002, he completed the course “European Economy, Integration and Law” (faculty for economy and law at Bayreuth University, Germany).

After the graduation Yuriy Heletiy started his career at the National Bank of Ukraine where it took him from 2003 till 2015 to work up from the 1st degree economist to the head of a unit in the banking supervision division.

From October 2015 till July 2018 Yuriy Heletiy worked as the director of the financial policy department at the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine where he was responsible for the strategic reform of the state-owned banking sector as well as the development of the market for financial services and the stock market.

In July 2018, he was appointed the deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

Yuriy Heletiy is fluent in English and German.
