​Sergiy Verlanov has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance

On July 26, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the request of acting Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova and appointed Sergiy Verlanov Deputy Minister of Finance.
In his new position Sergiy Verlanov will be responsible for tax and customs policy, reform of the SFS and the customs service as well as for financial investigations.

The Ministry of Finance welcomes this decision of the Government and highly appreciates its support in the build-up of a team of professionals at the Ministry of Finance who have the same mindset and are known as experienced managers who will contribute to the fast and effective implementation of the reform needed for the country.

Sergiy Verlanov is a graduate of Lviv Ivan Franko National University: in 2003 he received a master degree in law, in 2008 he became a candidate of law sciences in the field “Theory and history of state and law; history of political and law doctrines”.

After his graduation Sergiy Verlanov worked a legal advisor for a number of companies in Lviv region. In November 2008, he started his career as a lawyer at PwC, where he worked till June 2015. From July 2015 till July 2018 he was a partner at the leading Ukrainian law firm “Sayenko Kharenko”.

From 2015 till 2017 he co-chaired the legal committee of the US Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. Since 2016Sergiy Verlanov has been a member of the Civil Council for Integrity and the Supreme Qualification Commission of the Judges of Ukraine (delegated by the Lawyers’ Association of Ukraine).

On July 26, 2018, Sergiy Verlanov was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

Mr. Verlanov speaks English fluently.
