Ukraine has Received EUR 500 Million in EU Macro-Financial Assistance

Ukraine received the second tranche from the European Commission under the fourth EU Macro-Financial Assistance program with a nominal amount of EUR 500 million at 0.125% per annum maturing on 10.06.2035.

The funds will be used to finance state budget expenditures, help reduce external financial pressure on Ukraine, and improve the country's balance of payments.

Considering the state budget needs to finance immediate areas to counter the spread of Covid-19, receiving these funds will contribute to maintaining financial stability in Ukraine.

Receiving concessional financing became possible after Ukraine fulfilled 12 conditions for the implementation of reforms in the following areas:
-  counteraction and combating corruption;
-  social policy;
-  money laundering prevention;
-  energy sector;
-  customs policy;
-  tax and customs services reforms;
-  corporate governance in state-owned banks;
-  combating Base erosion and Profit Shifting;
-  reducing NPLs in the banking system;
and ensuring a new cooperation program with the IMF.
