Ukraine received CAD 500 million from Canada

December 19, Ukraine received an additional CAD 500 million (equivalent to USD 367 million) from Canada within the framework of the Loan Agreement between Ukraine and Canada. The total amount of the loan is CAD 1.95 billion (equivalent to USD 1.432 billion).

These are the funds of the five-year Ukraine Sovereignty Bond, which the Government of Canada launched to support Ukraine this difficult winter. The loan is provided on concessional terms through the Administrated Account of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“The Canadian Government is once again demonstrating its leadership in supporting Ukraine. We have received CAD 500 million, which came after the issuing of Ukraine Sovereignty Bond. The funds will be directed to financing priority expenditures of the State Budget, and will also contribute to the preservation of Ukraine's financial stability. Grateful for the support that brings our victory over the aggressor closer,” said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.

On June 15, 2022, Ukraine received CAD 1 billion (equivalent to USD 779 million), and on August 18, 2022, the State Budget received CAD 450 million (equivalent to USD 349 million) of a loan on concessional terms with a repayment period up to 10 years and an interest rate of 1.69% per annum.
