UAH 57 billion has already been Spent from the Anti-COVID-19 Fund

As of December 28, 2020, UAH 57.1 billion (79.3%) out of UAH 72 billion under the general fund of the state budget has already been spent from the Anti-COVID-19 Fund.

UAH 14.7 billion (65.5%) out of UAH 22.4 billion was used for healthcare. In particular, UAH 84 million has been spent on the purchase of ventilators; almost UAH 2 billion out of UAH 4 billion was used on the provision of the Health Ministry's laboratories and the purchase of personal protective equipment for medical workers; UAH 1.5 billion has been spent for the subvention to local budgets to provide hospitals with oxygen. Also, UAH 5.5 billion out of UAH 6 billion has been allocated to increasing allowances and surcharges for medical workers.

UAH 12.8 billion out of UAH 17.4 billion has been allocated for social protection. UAH 24.9 billion out of the envisaged UAH 26 billion has been allocated for the construction, reconstruction, repair of roads of state importance. UAH 3.6 billion out of UAH 4.5 billion has been allocated for law enforcement.

Also, the Law of Ukraine No 1006-IX dated 17.11.2020 provides for an increase of UAH 8.9 billion the Anti-COVID-19 Fund from the special fund of the state budget. The Government has allocated UAH 5 billion out of these funds for providing one-time compensation to insured persons who may lose their income in the event of a complete ban on their activities due to the strengthening of restrictive anti-pandemic measures. Almost UAH 1.4 billion is provided for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to preliminary data of the main spending units, as of 01.12.2020:

  • 87,079 individual entrepreneurs, who chose the simplified taxation system and belonged to the first and second groups of single taxpayers, received child benefits;
  • employers received funds to pay 354,148 employees of partial unemployment benefits for the period of quarantine;
  • provided insurance benefits for temporary disability for the period of stay in healthcare facilities, as well as for self-isolation - 47,830 people, including 9,634 medical workers;
  • temporary disability benefits were paid to 198,341 people; maternity benefits were paid to 21,559 people.
