The Ministry of Finance: 80% of Local Budgets have been Approved

Most territorial communities completed the budget planning process and approved their budgets for 2021 in December 2020.

According to Article 77 of the Budget Code of Ukraine, local budgets are approved by December 25 of the year preceding the planned year.

As of January 6, 2021, 1,298 local budgets have been approved, which is 81% of the total (1,597). In particular, the approved budgets include:

- 22 budgets of regions and Kyiv city (Volyn and Chernihiv regions’ budgets have not been approved);

- 92 district budgets (27 district budgets have not been approved);

- 1,172 budgets of territorial communities (266 budgets have not been approved).

Without violating the requirements of the Budget Code of Ukraine, 952 local budgets were adopted (until 25 December 2020).

In order to ensure the full functioning of budgetary institutions and their continuous provision of services to consumers, local governments need to take measures to speed up the process of approving local budgets and submit information on their approval to the Ministry of Finance through the IAS "LOGICA".
