Interview of Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko for the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA)

During the visit to Washington D.C., the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with the representatives of the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). The meeting was moderated by Alina Polyakova, President and CEO of CEPA.

The Minister of Finance spoke about the prospects of the IMF Stand-by Program continuation - progress in the financial sector and judicial reforms, the attraction of investments to Ukraine, and priorities in relations between Ukraine and the United States.

"The visit to Washington is very important because it shows our great desire to improve and strengthen relations between Ukraine and the United States. We have several priorities in mind to discuss with the United States authorities, but the first is our political cooperation. The U.S. has supported and continues to support Ukraine in different areas", Sergii Marchenko said.

Sergii Marchenko also spoke about Ukraine's prospects to receive additional support from the United States to counter military aggression in Eastern Ukraine and how the launch of Nord Stream-2 will affect the state budget.

"The annual profit from gas transit is more than USD 1 billion. If Nord Stream-2 starts operating, it will be a challenge for the Ukrainian economy. It is clear to me that we should find a way to agree on how to ensure reliable transit through Ukraine", - said the Minister of Finance of Ukraine.
