Today, June 20, 2022, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with representatives of the General Confederation of Italian Industry, including the President of the General Confederation of Italian Industry Carlo Bonomi and the Head of the Office of the President of Confindustria Riccardo di Bernardini.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine for European Integration Yuriy Draganchuk and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Ukraine Pier Francesco Zazo.

The parties discussed the current economic situation in Ukraine, prospects for strengthening cooperation, in particular in the financial and credit spheres, as well as the involvement of Italian business in financing programs for the postwar reconstruction of Ukraine.

Sergii Marchenko thanked the representatives of the Italian Republic for their uncompromising position in support of Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, in particular in the financial sphere.

"I am grateful to the Government of Italy, which in the first days after the war provided Ukraine with grant funding of EUR 110 million. Also, the Italian embassy was one of the first to resume work in Ukraine after the start of a full-scale invasion, which is an important signal of support for Ukraine”, said the Minister of Finance.

During the conversation, representatives of the Confindustria stressed the unwavering support of Ukraine, including support for granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.

The Minister of Finance and representatives of the Confindustria also discussed potential attractive areas for investments in Ukraine by Italian businesses, including light industry, green energy and agriculture.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue in order to strengthen economic ties between Ukraine and Italy.

The General Confederation of Italian Industry is the main organization for the protection of the interests of Italian entrepreneurs in the fields of industry and services. It consists of about 150,000 companies on a voluntary basis.
